Use this tool to paint, or brush on, color in freehand. You can restrict paint operations to selected areas only if you wish. To learn more about area selection, see Selection Tools.

The Paint Brush tool on the Toolbar is not to be confused with the Paint tools in the Settings area. The Paint tools offer considerable control over color intensity, or saturation, and can be used in a variety of operations. The Paint Brush tool controls one such operation, and is used to paint, or brush on, colorization effects, as specified by the Paint tools, in freehand.

To find the tool:

  1. Click the Photos button on the Navigation panel.

  2. Click the Edit Photo icon located below the buttons.

  3. Find the Paint Brush tool on the Toolbar.


To paint your photo:

  1. Click the Paint Brush tool on the Toolbar.

  2. Choose whether to paint throughout the photo or within a restricted, or selected, area. To learn how to select specific areas within a photo, see Selection Tools.

  3. Specify the active Paint color by left-clicking its color swatch in the Color Palette.

  4. Specify the desired brush size and style using the Brush Preview box.

  5. Select the appropriate Paint effect for the task at hand. The Paint effects are contained within a list box located below the photo in the Settings area. For a description of each effect, see Paint Tools.

  6. Drag the mouse to paint, or brush on, the colorization effect.
